Zaragoza Aljafería Palace — Moorish Jewel Board

Souvenir cutting board featuring the AljaferГ­a Palace — Zaragoza’s magnificent 11th-century Moorish palace and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built as a pleasure palace for the Banu Hud dynasty, it is the only significant example of Islamic architecture outside of Andalusia, with intricately carved stucco arches, horseshoe doorways, and a beautiful courtyard with a central reflecting pool. After the Christian Reconquista, the palace became a residence for the Kings of Aragon and later the seat of the Spanish Inquisition. Today it houses the Aragonese parliament — one of the most beautiful government buildings in the world.
