In the 18th century, wealthy merchants built towers on their rooftops to watch for incoming trade ships. Today, Torre Tavira houses one of the few working Camera Obscuras in the world — an optical device that projects a live, moving 360В° image of the city onto a concave screen in a darkened room. The rooftop terrace offers stunning panoramic views over the white-and-gold rooftops of one of Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited cities.
