Girona Call Jueu — Medieval Jewish Quarter Board

Souvenir cutting board featuring El Call — Girona’s medieval Jewish Quarter and one of the best-preserved in all of Europe. From the 9th to the 15th century, Girona was home to one of the most important Jewish communities in the Iberian Peninsula, producing renowned scholars, Kabbalists, and rabbis. The quarter’s narrow stone alleyways, some barely wide enough for one person, create an atmospheric labyrinth of ancient doorways, hidden courtyards, and mysterious passages. The Museum of Jewish History tells the story of this community, and the Nahmanides Institute preserves the intellectual heritage of Rabbi Moses ben Nahman, Girona’s most famous Jewish scholar.
