Tarragona Roman Amphitheatre & Sea Board

Souvenir cutting board featuring Tarragona’s Roman Amphitheatre — one of the most spectacularly situated Roman ruins in the world. Built in the 2nd century AD when Tarragona (then Tarraco) was the capital of Roman Hispania, this amphitheatre could seat 14,000 spectators who watched gladiatorial combats with the glittering Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop. The ruins of a Visigothic basilica and a 12th-century Romanesque church stand within the arena, creating a remarkable layering of 2,000 years of history. Part of Tarragona’s UNESCO Archaeological Ensemble, this is where ancient Rome meets the Mediterranean beach.
